Join us for the launch of Lara Cain Gray's The Grown-Up's Guide to Picture Books.
ABOUT THE BOOK
The Grown-Up’s Guide to Picture Books is an illustrated guide for adults who seek a greater appreciation of the stories we too often deem to be just for kids. Specialist librarian, Dr Lara Cain Gray, encourages us to take a fresh look at this deceptively simple format, from the psychological benefits of using animals as characters, to the socio-cultural connotations of food imagery, and the crucial role of understanding pictures in our increasingly visual media landscape.
With extraordinary illustrations by Lorena Carrington and Timothy Ide, this is your opportunity to reconnect with the books you loved as a child and find new ways to explore them with the young people in your life.
