As ten year olds in 2002, Emily and Verdi spent their afternoons at 173 Boundary Street (original Avid Reader) releasing fart-bombs in to the mutually shared car parks of the neighbouring businesses.

Emily’s career at the bookshop officially began in 2008, serving wine on the street to event attendees, and convincing other intoxicated passer byers the merits of a ticketing system.

When not SCUBA diving or studying her Masters in Environmental Management, Emily can be seen at various Avid Reader pop-up shops selling books for anyone from Paul Kelly to Bob Brown.

Avid Reader will always be Emily’s first and favourite ‘job’.
