Join Tim Easton for the launch of his memoir 21 Days in the Himalayas.

This story is of a twenty-one-day trek into some of the most extra-ordinary mountainous terrain on the planet. The author chose to do the trek in December 2017 to avoid the tens of thousands of visitors this part of the world can receive in warmer months. With mountains soaring over 8,000 metres, and a frozen lake that is the largest in the world for its almost 5,000 metre elevation, it is easy to see why so many people are drawn to this place.

However, it is not just the beauty and wildness of this country but the Nepalese people who have inhabited this landscape for perhaps 5,000 years. Tibet, now controlled by China is just thirty kilometres in places to where this trek ventured. Today a richer tapestry of people results from this forced migration.

Tim Easton also spent nine days in Kathmandu and was spell bound by its magic, history and the hearts of the Nepalese people.

Tim Easton has been an adventurer most of his life except perhaps for a twenty-year period of raising his three children here in Brisbane.  From the age of thirteen he has hiked to some of the remotest parts of Lamington National Park and at nineteen he foregoes university studies to travel to Cape York Peninsula where he spent almost four months in very remote places and spent three weeks of that time at Lockhart River.

He has since that time travelled to England, the European Continent, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, China, United States, Canada and Zimbabwe. Brisbane has been his family base and he is currently an active member of Brisbane Bushwalkers for the past five years. His next trip he plans is to Morocco in April 2020.  He completed a Communication Degree from Nathan Campus (Griffith University) in 2000 and ran a radio program through Radio 4EB entitled “Men’s and Women’s Stories” for almost five years and 150 one hour programs have been recorded for perpetuity.
