If you think that Melbourne or Sydney is the centre of the Australian Literary Scene, you’d better think again, because we know that Brisbane is actually Lit Central. The Brisbane Literary Mafia knows where it is at. Consider many great Australian writers: David Malouf? Ex-Brisbane! Trent Dalton? Brisbane! Anna Krien? Ex-Brisbane! Benjamin Law? Ex-Brisbane! Kris Olsson? Brisbane! Honestly, throw a ball in the Sydney Writer's Festival greenroom and you are bound to bounce off someone from Brisbane.

Krissy coined the term Brisbane Literary Mafia to describe the incredibly supportive and collegial bunch of writers who meet regularly at Avid Reader. The name stuck and now we are going to exploit it.

Join Cass Moriarty and Krissy Kneen with Walkley Award winning journalist and advocate, Tracey Spicer, for what is a regular literary catch up where we discuss issues affecting writers and readers in Australia today. Each zoomcast will feature a different Australian writer (with a connection to Brisbane!) and end with the very popular segment "What is Cass Reading Now?" Cass Moriarty is a voracious reader and if it has been written by an Australian you can bet Cass has read it or that it is sitting on her bedside table.

Join us for the Brisbane Literary Mafia Chat and then put us in your diary for the last Monday every month!
