Fiona is the owner of Avid Reader. She has only ever been a bookseller apart from a brief and not so wondrous career as a waitress.

Fiona regularly speaks to parent groups about creating life long readers and the importance of reading aloud. She is also available to speak to book groups about great new books as well to professional groups on the role of bookshops and the changing nature of book selling. In 2009 Fiona received the Queensland Writers' Centre (QWC) Johnno Award for her out­standing contribution to Queensland writers and writing. She is currently the Immediate Past-President of the Australian Bookseller's Association (ABA).

She lives in West End with her family, five chickens and a native beehive.
