Join multi-award winning architects Paul Hotston and Russell Hall with Silvia Micehi discussing Urban Built: Modern Architecture in West End.

In West End just over 50% of the dwellings are standalone houses and 37% are higher density residential properties, including multi-storey blocks of apartments and units. Paul and Russell discuss several of the recent architectural additions to the suburb and the ever-changing streetscape.

Paul Hotston is the Director of Phorm architecture + design. Phorm architecture + design seeks to create new architecture with local identities.

A Brisbane based practice with 15 years specialising in residential projects; half of their projects are located within the inner city suburbs, the compliment are scattered throughout regional Queensland's diverse terrains and townships and along it’s coastline.

Phorm seeks to craft specific projects that 'inherently belong to' or celebrate place. Choreographing and nurturing the relationships between occupants and landscape or cityscape. Central to our approach are the ideas of ‘placement’ and ‘displacement’.

Phorm's One Room Tower in Corbett Street was recently awarded House of the Year at the 2018 Queensland Architecture Awards. Find out more at Phorm.

Russell Hall is the Director of Moorooka's Russell Hall Architects that provides a number of architecture services including residential and commercial design, heritage and sustainability projects. Their project Carpenter-Hall House in Wilston was awarded Building of the Year at the 2018 Queensland Architecture Awards. Russell’s prominent West End work is the Varitimos Building at the intersection of Boundary and Vulture Streets. Find out more at Russell Hall Architects.
